It is our great pleasure to invite you to attend the new Advancing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in Transplantation: A Global Perspective Conference, taking place September 13 - 14, 2024 in Toronto, Ontario.

There is a growing awareness of the challenges involved in achieving Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in professional environments. Many transplant professionals face challenges related to gender, sexual orientation or racial background in their work environment or experience inequities involving access to leadership positions, professional promotion, and compensation. These circumstances not infrequently become a major source of work-related stress and burnout for these disadvantaged, under-represented transplant professionals. Similarly, despite decades of research and evidence-based mitigation strategies, disparities in access to transplantation persist for all organ types and in all stages of the transplant process.

This is a first international conference of its kind that will provide a unique opportunity to understand the key challenges faced by transplant providers and patients by gathering International Transplant Leaders, across organ groups, as well as clinicians, surgeons, nurses, researchers, policy makers, and representatives from academic and community-based organizations. Most importantly, it places patients and caregivers at the center of our focus.

Whether one works in patient care, research, education, administration, or the broader transplant community in general, our program offers something for everyone!
